This is one of the 3 PS3 game titles I bought during my trip back to SG last week - Dead Rising 2.

Just began playing not too long ago, and seems that this game - while pretty easy to navigate and all - requires some degree of exploration and trial and error before you can fully understand and enjoy the game.

Firstly, it doesn't have any sort of "tutorial" level that runs you through the basics of the game, and immediately throws you into the deep end of the pool expecting you to know exactly what to do.

Secondly, there is a minigame in the beginning sequence involving a motorcycle race to kill the most number of zombies, which a player could totally miss/skip with the simple press of the [X] button. Cutscenes are also easily cancelled and "forwarded' to the next part of the story with [X], albeit unintentionally for first timers.

There is one feature, however that attempts to redeem itself - if you somehow get killed in the course of the game, there is an option offered to you to restart the game but retain all the items, clothes and experience gained from the previous game, sans the quest items, of course.

Overall, the game seems to keep working a pretty simple concept to search, locate and rescue survivors, while (mostly) avoiding zombies and picking up / combining swell items to bring the world of pain to your regular undead critters roaming the world outside your zombie-free safehouse, and last but not least, try to keep your already-infected young daughter from turning into an undead, flesh and brain-eating zombie by regularly injecting her with an anti-zombifying drug aptly named "Zombrex".

For those who love brainless carnage, want a game that does not require thinking skills and possess good finger-eye coordination and agility, this is the game for you.

I haven't really blogged here in the past - i dunno - 3 years? Seems like a pretty long time for one who is online almost everyday but can't seem to make time to enter a proper blogpost.

....since my last post.. anyways I've got my Fallout game (FINALLY!), thanks to a friend in NY who helped ship it over to me.. I bought the game online @ Amazon.com and got them to send it to my friend in NY...

So much has happened since then... went to Taiwan-HK-Macau for my usual year end trip and had a blast there.... Ended up getting my fix of taiwanese pastries like the Tai Yang Bing and the Feng Li Su, then the usual wonton noodles in HK (3 prawns in 1 wonton!!! Best I ever found in SG was at Crystal Jade - 2 prawns) and also who could ever forget the peanut candy and portugese tarts in Macau...

Will find time to make more detailed posts soon, so... we shall see.. =)

Waiting and waiting...

Seems like eternity till November 13th, when Fallout 3: PC Version will hit the shelves in sunny Singapore.

Seems like ages ago on the 28th of Oct that I had gone down to Funan to grab myself a copy of this much anticipated and highly rated game, only to be told the bad news that the pc version would be delayed till Nov 13. It felt like doctor was telling me that I was suffering from a terminal cancer or something. The news hit me like a sledgehammer or a Power Fist to the face(you'd know what I mean if you were a Fallout fan). Also sucks when you have a colleague telling you his gaming exploits EVERY SINGLE DAMN DAY just because he got the PS3 version of the game.

Anyway the game is rated M for Mature, which means u under-18 buggers can't play it. Grow up first! But I'm sure once you're old enough to play you'd come to understand that violence and gore are so part of the current trend of gaming genre.

Come to think of it, the delay may not be such a bad thing after all. At least the game will be released after my payday, which means EXTRA credits to purchase the game!!! And not feel so guilty!!! haha

Sigh. I guess after waiting 4 years for Fallout 3, one more week wouldn't hurt. But I know damn well its gonna feel like 1 more year to me.

Pan Pacific Serviced Suites

I spent the weekend at the Pan Pac Serviced Suites, situated at Somerset just behind the California Fitness building, which my friend managed to get for one night.

According to her, the normal rates to stay there are in excess of $9k a month.

The rooms are all designed with branded European appliances from the LCD Tv all the way to the bathroom sinks and bathtubs. Even the toiletries are branded... as you will be able to see from the pics I am putting up tonight.

High living at its best in the heart of town. Cool stuff!

Walked past a display of an F1 car at Raffles city last sunday... a few pics to show for it...

I could never, or at least I don't think I'd ever understand why people like F1 so much... its like just watching cars zooming by at 200 km/h for like a short 3 second thingy before they are gone around the corner...

What's so interesting about that? The sound of turbocharged cars? The carbon monoxide in the exhaust fumes giving an extra high? Or the racequeens? Seems like the latter is more possible.

I've a newfound passion - writing food reviews for restaurants!

Since i'm such a fervent foodie (a nice ring to it, huh) I thought I'd just put my tasting talents to good use and write reviews of restaurants and their food. I'm also somewhat of a Service Nazi (so much that I cannot stand bad service standards) so, why not put these merits (or character flaws) of mine to good use, and improve my writing skills while I'm at it?

While I've only written 2 reviews to date, I will certainly be writing more as time goes by. Hopefully this newfound passion will continue for as long as I can afford to eat at restaurants. =)

National Day 2008

This year's National Day Parade was a little different, probably because of the very impressive (or so I've heard) Opening Ceremony of Beijing's Olympics being held one day before that.

For those who had watched (and were impressed) by the grandeur of the Opening Ceremony, I bet they were yawning when it came to the Show segment of Singapore's National Day Parade. Even I was guilty of changing the channel when it reached the show segment, partly also because my favourite show "Japan Hour" was showing on Channelnewsasia.

This week's episode was "Trip In Autumn Leaves By Train (Pt2)" . There were some breathtaking views of Japan's Autumn greenery (or "orange-ry") along the JR Tadami Line. They even showed one place called Panorama-no-Yu, which stands for Panoramic Hot Spring, which, as its name suggests, offers a panoramic view of the beautiful surroundings while you enjoy your hot spring bath. They also featured the Ikaho Onsen in the Gunma Prefecture. The spring water here is pretty special: it is reddish-yellow because of the high iron content in the natural spring water, which is supposedly good for the human body.

All the more strengthens my resolve to save up more money to go on my backpacking trip to Japan, hopefully next year.

Just spent 2 weeks staying in at the Shangri-La Hotel to support the event mentioned above in the title...

Many many experiences and thoughts about the past 2 weeks are going through my mind as I type this so I'll try to write this in the most organized way I can.

I was assigned to oversee the Bilateral Meeting Rooms to check on all them before the foreign dignitaries used them for their bilateral meetings... Apparently I was assigned a few interns to help me run the show from the second day onwards of the ministerial meetings. Over the course of the next few days, and I managed to train some interns like Sharon, Nicole, Jasmine, Kristen, Lin Tong, Yi Ren, Tiffany, Gideon and Kai Yan to be able to run the bilat show with minimal supervision. Though they were barely 17, some of them showed maturity and ability to handle the (somewhat) complicated operation of the bilat room duty, which called for some of them to exercise their ability to think on their feet and their independent thinking. Overall Operation Bilat Rooms went by very smoothly without any major hitches, and I'm glad to say that I'm proud of each and every one of them.

Some rather interesting incidents happened, which I think would be quite unforgettable for some of the interns, but other than that, I would say everyone had their fair share of fun and laughter.

The last day was capped off with a nice party for everyone and Min G.Yeo & 2PS said some words of thanks to us before the gorging and boozing began. Some of us adjourned to Partyworld Orchard after the party and I must say we sang our hearts out that night... but thats not the end yet. We adjourned (again) to our favourite pizza joint along Evans Road, Mr Prata, and we had some supper there. We had a ball of a time as we were cracking jokes all the time, Juniper and Dominic included. Alice was so tickled/embarrassed by us that she was laughing non-stop at our nonsense.. =D

Now that its all over, back to reality and work again, and I think with all the work piled up and with preps for Nat'l Day Observance Ceremony in full swing, I think I'm gonna be kept busy, and won't be able to take a good break for the next 2 weeks... sigh.

On a happier note, though, I'm going to Jakarta soon (sometime next month) for my courier run... gotta start planning for it so... I'll take it as a short break. =D

It's been a hectic first two days of the ASEAN Ministerial Meetings but people are swearing the worst is yet to come.

Anyways I've been having a lot of fun learning to set up conferences and using "aggresive negotiations" with the event company to get what we wanted, when we wanted it. Apparently my Director/Ops thinks that I'm too good natured, so she was trying to train me to be nasty and hound pple so that things get done... Reminds me of what I had learnt previously about task-oriented and people-oriented bosses. I guess given my character, it would be pretty hard for me to be the task-oriented type. People who know me well enough will know that I'm quite the people-oriented "softie" so I will never (or almost never) make life hard for other people as I recognise the fact that other people are also wage-earners like me.

That being said, my character will or should not be an excuse for not being an efficient and effective person at work. Whipping people into shape first requires me to whip MYSELF into shape first. Discipline is the key. Which is why I'm still insisting to write this blog entry when I'm supposed to be sleeping...

The only thing good (and bad) about me is my stubbornness and commitment to whatever I deem is important to me. I guess that's how much importance I put on this event.

Fitness Regime?

Took a look down south today and found a nice piece of flab there I call my tummy.

I made myself look into the mirror long and hard today to TRY and motivate myself to get my tough hard-sweating fitness regime on schedule.

I had started a couple of months back by starting to turn up at the company gym during lunch twice a week, and quit on my canned drinks. Started drinking Teh-O Siu Dai to cure my past addiction to Season's Ice Lemon Tea (which I used to have at least one can per day). I take more veggies now, even though I can only take cooked veggies instead of fresh ones, which make me puke. I've even got into the whole fitness thingy by starting to do light running at least twice per week. Though I've seen an overall improvement in my fitness in the past few weeks, to my horror, I'm still going the wrong direction on the weighing scale. Some people have told me that it was quite normal as I was turning flab into muscle in the gym... I even bought myself a skipping rope to skip the kgs away!

Notwithstanding all this effort that I am putting in, I am told that I would probably only start seeing results only after 3-4 months if I exercised INTENSIVELY. I admit that I do think of indulging myself once in a short while, but I think the only way I can slim down is if I really get my running thingy going rain or shine.

I thought of doing it the pills way by getting the detox ones, but they probably only helped remove excess oil from food or stuff like that. I also took long hard looks at carbo-blockers and whatnot.

I shall attempt to wake up at 6am again tomorrow morning for a morning run. This time... nothing is gonna stop me from slimming down. There's no better revenge on people who laughed at my figure by showing them how much better I can look when I am slimmer than them. =D Old friends would, hopefully, recognize me when they see me in town. I would probably be able to look good in everything I wear when I'm slimmer so I'd probably also start taking more care about the way I look from then on. I stopped caring about my appearance once the tummy set in, and now I guess its time to do something drastic about it.

I hope that I can train myself to be as disciplined as I am resolute on slimming.

Seems like another rush of work is expected in the coming months because of the upcoming ASEAN Ministerial Meeting...

Once again, I am "automatically arrowed" to be in the planning and operations of this mega event that promises to be larger and in some ways on a larger scale this year coz it involves 25 countries, up from the previous count of 16.

Last year's had to have more ceremony and pomp involved coz the Heads of State were involved. This year, only the Foreign Ministers and Snr Officials will be involved.
Doesn't mean less work here, cuz the number of meetings will definitely be more that last year's.

At least this year I won't be in the subcommittee headed by a Tai-Tai, but rather another Dy-Director that I'm pretty close too... Got a witty and hardworking Asst Director as my direct superior for this event too... =) EXPOSURE is the key. At least I wanted to be doing something different this time round... need more on-the-ground experience with event management...

today's the day i've waited so long for.. The day i get my brand new Pearl Black Chevrolet Spark! Its a 0.8AT vehicle so its quite good in the fuel economy part. Its pretty comfy too, with a whole lot more legroom than compared with the picanto.

ASEAN Summit + Cambodian Dragonboating Incident

Well, I shall attempt to summarize my past weeks' happenings in one post...

The previous week was absolutely crazy because I worked non stop for 12 days in a row... all thanks to the 13th ASEAN Summit. A once in a lifetime chance for me to be a part of such a large scale event, and also one of the highlights of my career here in MFA.

As part of the Gala Dinner Subcommittee, my whole of last week was dominated by trips down to the Raffles City Convention Center (RCCC) where the Gala Dinner was held, at the Raffles Ballroom. I spent all my time preparing and rehearsing for the big day on Tuesday, 20th November, when all the Heads of States / Governments, Foreign Ministers and Economic Ministers of all the ASEAN Countries + the 6 East Asian Countries would gather and have dinner hosted by PM Lee Hsien Loong. The first, and probably the only time I would get into such close proximity with the leaders of so many countries... The guestlist would include names such as Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Indonesian President Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Philippine President Gloria Arroyo, Malaysian PM Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and so on. I helped plan the guestlist and seating arrangements, so I'm pretty familiar with the spellings, titles and honorifics of these VVIPs. Anyways, it was a night to remember and I'm not likely to forget it anytime soon.

The day after that, I was involved in the exhibition at the Asian Civilisations Museum called "On The Nalanda Trail". This event's guestlist included the ministers and important office holders of the European Union and the European Commission. The only irritating thing of the day was that I kept picking up signals on my walkie talkie coming from a restaurant nearby... =( Korean President Mr Roh Moo-hyun wanted to leave early, but I had to stop him from leaving while my other colleagues were getting his presidential motorcade ready... Had no choice but to ask him to take a seat and wait while his motorcade was being prepared. He looked a little impatient, but there was little I could do as he wanted to leave earlier than planned. On the whole, though, the Nalanda Event went without a hitch, and everyone was happy. Managed to catch a glimpse of Indian President Dr Manmohan Singh and his spouse.

The Sunday after the ASEAN Summit was supposed to be a rest day for me, but I had to go back to do my ops duty in the morning. The moment I stepped into the ops room, I realised that it was not going to be a quiet day, because there was a crisis going on because of the National Dragonboat Team Members who drowned in the Tonle Sap river in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I was busy the whole day, sending out notices to my Ministers and Senior Management because all the bodies were found during my shift. Couldn't help but feel sad for them, and dragonboating was something close to my heart because I am also in the MFA DragonBoating Team. I could also understand why life vests were not worn, because they would impede movement, and it was also a norm that they were usually not worn during international races.

Anyway that sums up the ultra busy week I had, and if u had the patience to finish reading this, you probably can understand how much I had to go through this past week.

13th ASEAN Summit

I've been working late till 11pm almost everynight this week, all because of the upcoming 13th ASEAN Summit, where Singapore plays host to all the delegates from the ASEAN Countries including Presidents, Prime Ministers, Foreign & Trade Ministers and many many more people from each of the 10 ASEAN and 6 East Asian Countries.

Exercises, Role plays and endless meetings make up the bulk of the time at work, and the only good thing is that time flies when you're working hard. It flies even faster when you're in endless meetings where planning goes into every single minute detail of the event.

This year, Singapore is hosting the Summit, which means us at MFA have to do all the planning, organization and coordination of the whole 4 day event.

With so many things going on at the same time, none of us can afford to slip up at anytime. Especially when I was tasked to do the Guestlist of all the VVIPs that would be attending the Gala Dinner event. Special attention had to be paid to VVIPs with long names and honorifics.

Endure... that would be the best way for me to go through this event in one piece... Anyway it would end up as the icing to my "Cake" for ths year, so might as well do it properly. Similarly, if things go wrong my head would also be on the chopping board. So its a do or die situation. Oh well, I've been put through so many of such situations that I'm almost used to it now.

Liverpool 8 - 0 Besiktas

Woke up at 3.30am to watch the match btw Liverpool and Turkish outfit Besiktas this morning...

Really worth my time and "EFFORT" to wake up so early for the match... Liverpool turned in one of the best results in 27 years! They really stamped their authority all over Besiktas in the 2nd half as they scored the remaining 6 goals after going up 2-0 during half time.

In fact, team manager Rafa Benitez was so confident that he substituted Captain Gerrard in th 70th min! Goes to show the depth and quality in the current squad. Even newcomers like Lucas Leiva and Ryan Babel got a run out to show their prowess.

On a day that everything went right for Liverpool, I promised to wear the Liverpool Jersey under my working shirt for the whole of today as a celebratory gesture today.

Anyways I managed to buy Jay Chou's latest album <<我很忙>> at Plaza Singapura while I was there for lunch today... listening to it now! =D

Hmm... seems like I'm gonna be pretty busy soon...

Within the space of 1 week, I was drafted into 3 organizing committees...

1> ASEAN Summit Gala Dinner Subcommittee
2> MFA Club's Social Events & Functions Subcommittee
3> November Sherry Hour Committee

On top of all that, gotta support my Middle East WITS Team to represent MFA in the upcoming ExCEL Convention and Awards Ceremony...

With all these events coming up, plus my exams are around the corner... I think i really need to start planning and micromanage my life very efficiently... I just gotta stop neglecting my studies... I dunt wanna end up failing again... Repeating a semester is no joke... I wanna graduate earlier too...

But seems that to do well in my job only means more n more work, and having to put on more and more hats at one time. Good chances to prove my worth to my bosses, but still dangerous because I dont wanna do well at work at the expense of my own studies...

I've also begun my Jap classes @ Ikoma on Saturday afternoons... the teacher Matsuyama-sensei is very experienced and funny... at least she makes it easy for us to pick up the language cos she makes it so fun.. Glad I made the decision to continue my jap lessons cos I've been laying it off for so long... (9 years!!!)

Watched Resident Evil: Extinction with Ernest today, followed by dinner and supper with Eddie.. luckily I'm not affected by bloody and gory scenes so I was still able to eat properly after watching the movie... was practically chomping away on that bag of salted popcorn while the main protagonist of the movie was slashing away at the throats of the zombies..

Oh yeah, and while we were at Bugis we saw the display of the car used in the musical "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang".. Hope to catch it when it opens on 2nd November 2007.

Wang Lee Hom...

Slept in this morning, cos this is the only morning of the week that I do not need to wake up so darn early... (mon - fri for work, sat for dragonboating)

Drove down to Bishan Junction 8 to get my new Wang Lee Hom's cd （改变自己） autographed.. got a shock of my life when I reached there... the queue was snakin' long and went all the way from the cinema exit all the way past the carpark entrance, turning down the corner to the traffic light area where Junction 8 was facing the bus interchange...

shiat... waited for about 2 hours before the crowd moved, and what happened next was a life-altering experience for me... squeezed with hordes of Lee Hom fans in front the open air stage... not to mention the crazy china gal next to me screaming her damn lungs off. Weather was damn hot to top it all off, and we had to squeeze and shove our way through the queue just to get our cds autographed by Lee Hom!

Luckily I had practiced the "pushing, shoving & squeezing-into-tiny-corners skills" while I went shopping in Thailand, so I managed to squirm and sidestep my way through the queue to get on stage to get my cd signed.

Phew! I'm never gonna do this again. Too old for that... And someone still had the "audacity" to ask me if I was gonna line up again to see Jay Chow beginning next year. Sheesh.

What an eventful day!!!

Today, I had to wake up early for my dragonboat practice...

Practice was quite fun cos we had a new rower, Eunice. Anyways after the practice, I drove to the Kallang Mcdonalds to have breakfast with Ye-min, Hon Mun, Wee Siong and Eunice.

After that, I drove to Shaw Towers to meet Weiming... we watched Balls of Fury together... but it was a kinda crazy show with a virtually non-existent storyline. Plot sounded incredulous, coupled with the idiotic looking Dan Fogler acting as the lead and Christopher Walken acting as the weird baddie. The only saving grace was that, at least, Maggie Q looked pretty hot doing stunts in hot pants and short skirts.

After that, I went to AMK Hub for a walk, and waited till Ernest came around... after which we went down to Marina to eat at the 振发活海鲜. Somehow the food didn't taste as good and our appetites were not as good as it was when we were previously there... After dinner we also had a short LAN gaming session and I taught him how to play DOTA. We also drove to the prawn fishing farm in Marina to check out the place... but there were many people there.

Pooped out when i got home....

Whats wrong with today?!

Been seeing so many weird things since the morning today...

Traffic jams for no reason... Inconsiderate people trying to push into the train *BEFORE* the passengers alight.

The weirdest thing was that since this morning I have seen 3 people at different locations picking their noses like there was no tomorrow.

I mean, come on! Do that shit at home or in someplace no one else can see you! 'Nuff's been said about ugly Singaporeans and all but this just made the icing on the cake. Middle aged guy standing by the side of the road happily picking his nose while waiting for a taxi. Shudder to think where that finger's gonna be in contact with cos' I'm damn sure he ain't washing his hands anytime soon.

Just had my first practice session today, learnt the basics of dragonboating... quite a tiring session, but well, muz try everyway to slim down!!! Rowed on the left side of the boat today... i think tomorrow when i wake up I wont be able to move my left arm anymore hahaha.. not tat its that much of a worry compared to the sunburn im gonna suffer from tomorrow....

The sunlight was quite strong, and i went home looking like a prawn, which reminds me that i havent been prawn fishing for some time... =)

Nothing means to me more than slimming down, and i think about it everyday. I have slowly begun changing my eating habits and now finally decided to start exercising... Just have to bear all the aching and sunburns and start a healthy lifestyle before I can see some real slimming results... gotta do it the old-skool way... eat right and exercise right...

It was kinda cool last night, even to the point that I felt it more chilly than usual in this hot tropical climate in Singapore.

Honestly the weather's been pretty unpredictable these days. One time its hot as hell, the next day its pouring.. At least the weather now's pretty cool, much better than the past few months where I couldn't even cover myself with my comforter when I went to sleep... =(

Wow, its been like, almost 2 months since my previous blog entry, and I can officially confirm that no one ever reads my blog... which is quite normal since I don't update it very frequently. Poor me. Its not like I'm Felicia Chin, or a Star blogger like Dawn Yeoh or anything. Oh yes, and I like Felicia alot... her bubbly personality never fails to cure my moody spells immediately....

Although I've never been much of a fan of local productions, but the time I saw Felicia act in the show A Million Treasures, I've found myself chasing every episode just to see her. I even downloaded the final episode from Mobtv.sg to watch her looking happy again and again. Somehow she just brings joy into my life in ways I've never known before. In a weird way, cos I know I'd probably never find myself staring into her eyes in person to see if she's really that stunning as she is on tv.

Sorry you had to read all that, and yes, I know that was a very personal confession.

Anyways I've started a new mid-year resolution thingy to live my life to the fullest now. I'm in the midst of changing from a relak-jack, laid-back and lazy person to a 100% hot blooded Singaporean (kiasu and all), a hardworking student and also a diligent officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where I'm working at, in case you haven't met me for a long time or were living under a rock these past 2 years. I finally received the first High Distinction I had ever scored in my life! I have never scored better than a "C" in my entire life (yes I know I'm not exactly the study type)... I ended up staring at the results screen for like... a solid 3 minutes in a state of shock...

Somehow that has given me the encouragement I needed to pick myself up from the severe bat patch that I had been going through the past 3-4 months... Work screwing up, more work piling on, failing my subjects, breaking up with my ex (been together 1.5 years) and a whole host of many other problems culminating into a very stressed and moody Jeremy.

Recently things have been slowly improving though (I don't think I will be suay all the way right?!) but was still feeling kinda moody today. TILL I chatted with wm on MSN today, and he gave me Felicia Chin's blog address...

Weird enough, reading the posts on Felicia Chin's blog really perked up my day cos she's always so happy and spunky, its infectious! (Well, at least for me.. =D)

I just did up my hair today, decided to go with a more spunky and younger image cos... my previous hairdo made me look very "uncle". Put 3 colours in my hair too, some darker shades to cover my white hair (yes I'm almost an uncle liao) and some streaks of blonde to show that I'm still young! Nice or not? haha =P

Liverpool just lost out 2-1 to AC Milan in the Champion's League Final 2007 in Athens... Many brokenhearted Reds fans going home with tears in their eyes.

Can't be helped, they were downed by 2 goals from crafty little Italian Filippo Inzaghi. First one was kinda like a freak goal, but according to Inzaghi they had rehearsed for that kind of goal..

Although some heroics in the final 10 minutes from the Reds resulted in them pulling back one goal courtesy of Dirk Kuyt, that wasn't enough for the 2005 Champions to win this one.

So, back to work again... I know I'll never hear the end of this result from Rajasegar, until I remind him that his precious Arsenal is nowhere to be seen in the Champs League... =/

Trip to JB....

Celebrated Ernest's birthday for him on Saturday cuz I was having lessons on Monday 14th May. Went to catch Spiderman 3... ok la overall the show not too bad, Topher Grace (Venom) looked bloody familiar to me.

When i checked his name out on the web, I realised he was the skinny dude with the mushroom hair in That 70's Show... Looks so different now, more grown up.

Went to Marina to chow down some meat at the 振发活海鲜Restaurant... Smoky place, but nice food. Try and catch it before it closes down cuz of the development of that area into the upcoming Integrated Resort... Didn't realise it TOOK UP SO MUCH SPACE that they had to remove all those nice seafood restaurants there.

Come Sunday I drove Ernest, Sharlene and Sherman down to JB for a shopping trip! Sherman had a haircut, we attempted to give Sharlene an Extreme Makeover masterminded by Ernest and I bought myself some contact lenses and also a PS2... woahaha finallly after so many years...

Quite a fruitful weekend, I must say.

Had a pretty eventful weekend... went fishing on Sat morning for snelts at Sembawang Park. Although the sky had begun collecting a little grey clouds, most of it was still clear, and the sun was beating down mercilessly on 2 poor fishermen who didn't manage to get any fish that day.

All we managed to get was sunburns on our faces and arms... And though we didn't get any fish, that wasn't the case for prawns... haha yeah we went prawn fishing. At least the hit rate is much higher... and we got to cook about 20+ prawns on the spot...

Our Indian friend managed to catch a monster of a prawn at the Prawn Fishing Pond (PFP)! Its head was huge and its claws were extremely long... check it out...

Went fishing to a hidden spot in Kranji - Sungei Gedong Camp area, where there were no people around...

Rained heavily for a while, but stopped after that (Happy!) so proceeded through the ankle deep mud, lalang that was taller than me and also some water puddles to reach the best fishing spot that few people know of, to try catch the elusive Soon Hock fish.

But things didn't really go as expected, but at least I managed to catch my first fish, a luohan which belonged to the tilapia family...

Found out that this fish normally quite useless to fishermen, no point eating, so *splashhhh* back into the water...

Went back empty-handed, but a catch is still a catch nonetheless... I've come to realise it boils down to luck.

Drastic changes....

Well, seems that things didn't go as well as I had originally planned it to be, and now I'm a swingin' single bachelor again.

Not that she was a monster or anything, we just parted on good terms due to irreconciliable differences in our views and goals on this relationship.

To me, it may be God's way of telling me "I call the shots around here, not you". While I have always believed that to be true, it seems that I have always been thinking that I could change her for the better, and that she would see things in my point of view. Maybe I was wrong, and even if I did help give her a personality makeover, she would not be her anymore.

Now I spend my days indulging myself in new hobbies and old ones, namely fishing and Chinese orchestra. Not that I still play in an orchestra, but I think one of the best ways for me to get over this relationship is to actually sink myself into something that I have always loved for the past decade or so - Chinese Traditional Music. As far as new hobbies go, I have been mixing around alot with Ernest and Co, enough to convince me that I had found the right people to teach me something that I had always wanted to do but never got down to doing: Fishing!

Parted some cash to get my hands on the "ceasing production soon" Shakespeare brand of fishing rod, which incidentally was the last rod of its kind on sale in the shop. Which is why I saw it as a kind of "fate" btw me and that last of its kind rod.. haha! Well, after I bought the rod (for a considerable discount), I realised there were so much more other things to get, such as reels, leader lines, bait, hooks, floaters, sinkers, jiggers and what nots. And apparently good stuff never comes cheap when it comes to fishing.

Haven't landed any fish as yet, but have been doin abit of prawn fishing at the pond at Sin Ming Avenue... Live Barbecued Prawns, anyone?

I think I'm the only blogger that blogs only once in every half year.... Makes m blog function more like a time capsule.

Last time I blogged I told the world that i was attached... now I'm STILL attached (to the same person, of course) but we've been together for a lil over a year now.

Things still fine & dandy but we've already been through so much together.

Just started a new job at MFA as an asst. corporate affairs officer... =D

Its been like.... eons since I last blogged...

I tried a few days ago, but the webby kept bugging me for my password with every click i ...erm... CLICKED..

Anyway, almost 6 months down the road, I am now a much different man than I was when i last blogged in October. Let me count the changes:

-I'm attached... Something I never dreamed would happen happened. I actually found a soulmate in my darling.
-I'm heavier... Yes, she's been feeding me well...
-I'm using a Nokia 3230 now
-I now own a Canon Powershot S2 IS, feeding my craving for immortalizing picture perfect moments
-I applied for a Degree course at Singapore Institute of Management... pretty excited about it. IF I get in. Only IF.
-The only 2 people who managed to convince me to stuff brocolli/cauliflower down my throat are my Bro Eddie & my Darling Glad.

So much has changed now there's a new person in my life. We've had our share of quarrels & fights (yes i literally mean fights) but at the end of the day, the undeniably strong feelings we have for each other work as a magnet to draw out the new sunshine after the thunderstorms.

We've weathered storms together, putting our feelings for each other time and again. Nonetheless, each time we get through all that hand in hand our feelings for each other grow stronger. She's the only one who made me SERIOUSLY think about settling down.

I'm getting longwinded again, better stop here. I bet no one's gonna read this cos they'd probably have given up on my blog. No avid blogger blogs only once in six months...

A new Beginning...?

Its been ages since I last blogged, now I spend everyday with fingers stained with ink...

Been working at my current workplace for about one and a half months or so now... and I feel that I have learnt so much more within this time rather than I did in 7 1/2 months in the previous job... I have definitely matured much more and I am more responsible, mature and I have a better idea of what is expected from me.

There is still the occasional scolding from the Boss here and there, but I have learnt to take his stinging criticisms constructively to better improve myself.

Mahjong luck is still not improving, never managed to win back any of the taxi money on the mahjong table. haha! I realise that I have been waiting for the final tile to win but it never comes. Or someone gets it before me. Seems like clear evidence that luck is still not on my side this year. Well I guess this year is still not so much of gambling for me...

Met a nice gal through the course of my work... she's good natured, sporty and kind.. and she's older than me though. Despite the age difference I find that we connect pretty well with each other... Haven't been attached for so long, I've almost forgotten what it feels like to meet someone I can click with so well.

.... able to get some rest after two hectic weeks of work due to the exhibition at the COMEX...

Boss booked 2 adjoining rooms in Sentosa's Shangri-La Hotel and I spent one night over in the hotel... My colleagues and I ordered some food through room service... not too bad but on the whole, nothing special about the food except perhaps the prices... (a plate of Hor Fun costs $15++)

Oh yea i bought a new bag too.Samsonite brand. Looks pretty classy.

Somehow after so many things have happened in the last few weeks i have so much i want to blog about.. but i just can't seem to type it out.

3. I've got a new job and a pay rise

6. Grandma's recovering from her stroke and has been transferred to St Andrews Hospital

my dear grandma was admitted to hospital on monday... seems she had a bad fall... Found out later that she fractured her hipbone and 2 screws had to be inserted to keep her hip in place...

the morning after that she got a stroke... now she's weak in the right side of her body... Rushed down after work to visit her.. she looked pretty weak to me, but she could still recognise me, and she nodded her head when she saw and recognised me.

Seems like just yesterday she used to take me out to the market for breakfast when i wuz juz a lil' kid. She would bring me to the market and after breakfast she always had 20cts for me to catch a ride on those kind of old school kiddo moving aeroplane thingies that played kiddy songs whenever u rode on them. sighx..

seeing her lying in hospital bed i can't help but pray so hard that she would recover soon... received an sms from mum during work yesterday that read "Better come visit soon or else no chance"... was so worried i rushed down to hospital in a taxi just to see her straight after i closed shop... didn't matter how much it cost i just had to get there in the fastest time possible.

*keepin' my fingers crossed, prayin' that she'll be alright after all this is over*

Percussion Practice...

almost developed a cramp in my arm while practicing Long Teng (again) today... i guess im getting old, or maybe i'm putting in much MUCH more effort in body language this time round. i guess to be an impressive soloist is one thing, to be a soloist AND a lead percussionist is another thing altogether...

Well, anyway leading and inspiring the young 'uns get really satisfying when u see them putting in the effort to do their best in the song. But i hope they understand why i am so strict with them during practice... making them come 2 hours early for every practice so that i can polish their skills, demanding 110% effort and concentration during rehearsals and so on...

At least the conductor's appreciative of the effort we have put in for this concert (he better be!). haha

New Fengshui Position...

Contractors came to my shop today to fix up some cabinets to display new items in the shop... Installed many drawers too so that we could store all our spare strings for the music instruments... looks abit like those Chinese Medicinal Shops in olden days where people grab different herbs to make into chinese medicine... haha

Anyways after the cupboards were installed, boss decided to change the positions of both mine and his tables (Thank goodness, FINALLY!) The previous position i was sitting at was facing the West, and this year the Presiding Deity of the Year (Tai Sui) is located in the West, so sitting directly facing him is NOT the position you'd wanna be in this year cos u'd be in "direct confrontation" with him.
Haha all these fengshui information is beginning to rub off on me .. haha... Until now i still carry my San Bao Chuan (3 Chinese Zodiac Animal Friends) with me and wear my emerald Fengshui ring everywhere i go...

Met up with Ed @ Esplanade after work... we were reminicing about old times and looking back we both realised how much we have progressed and matured over the years and how much we have affected and influenced the people around us that we care for. Had dinner at the hawker center next to the Esplanade though. Tried the Oyster Omelette there (muz try from all over Singapore)... Cooked differently from the rest cos the cooking process was like mass production (4-5 plates at once)... tHe taste was very even... but the oysters were very well done.. not too raw and not too overcooked. just the way i like it. Overall the taste of the flour & egg still loses to the individually cooked Oyster Omelette at Bedok's 85 Market. But their oysters rule in terms of size and taste.

haha i should become a food gourmet someday.. =D~~~~

Grandma's Birthday...

the day started out wif mingx coming to my house from his chalet... he muz be a superman... not enuff sleep still can tong chalet for 3 days, go hsinghai for percussion sectional practice, go gaming with me then after that STILL go to Merchant Court to work ... muz be an Iron-Man or something. If it were me i would be half dead by now...

Today's practice was pretty productive... ironed out some parts of the few songs we were playing for next month's concert at the Esplanade... Kat & Lieyong came down to help out too! so happie. haha. anyways they're 2 really reliable people i don't really have to train cos they've played LTHY for like billions of times already... haha... by the way i whacked my finger into the drum stand for the Da Gu. The whole thing swelled up and became red.... Hurt like hell until the swelling subsided and now im left with a black'n'blue patch on my index finger!!!!!

Skipped down to city hall mrt to meet my cousin to go to Yishun for my Grandma's Birthday Dinner... had some good food such as Sharks Fin Soup, Abalone and also my favourite Black Pepper Crabs... muahahaha

eat until now my fingers still have abit of black pepper smell.... after washing my hands so many times... hahaa

Finally after ages and ages past of losing money at mahjong i eventually emerged winner tonight! Won $22++ in total (covering last week's loss) haha

Lucky day today... first hand i won maximum liao... then went on to win every hand in the East Wind...

First time in my life i came close to getting a xiao san yuan (3 Red Dragons, 3 Green Dragons and 1 White Board for eyes) but too bad couldnt complete the hand... but i think if i did the guys would kick my ass... haa

Got on the taxi home... then taxi uncle forgot to press meter until 1/4 of the journey... duno really anot (i suspect he k-siao wanna beat the 12midnite mark before he press so he got free $1.20 Midnite charge) but i reminded him at around 23:54pm so he LanLan Suck Thumb have to press... haha

When i got home the meter fare only $6.80 from Serangoon North to Bedok... sKiLLed

Sanur Indonesian Restaurant

Met up with Ed & Simona after work today... went to have dinner at Sanur Indonesian Restaurant... Ordered Tauhu Telur (Fried Tofu with Egg), sayur lodeh (Curry Mixed Veggies), Sambal Kangkong, Fried Chicken and many other dishes with white rice...

Overall not too bad, but i had better. Sambal Kangkong was my favourite for that meal anyway(YES i do eat SOME veggies)!!

Met a Financial Advisor called Jessie for a session of Financial Planning after work today...

Her company, Philips Capital, is located at Parkview Square... the VERY exclusive office building opposite Raffles Hospital at Bugis... The bronze carvings and Interior AND Exterior deco made the place look very classy...

There was this nice bar in the middle of the lobby area with a raised platform with a piano player and a bassist there playing jazz music while all the customers there were enjoying their drinks... nice.... =D~~~

Muz go there for a drink sometime... Who wants to check it out with me? (pls lemme know)

Kungfu Mahjong!

Met a lady from AIA to discuss some insurance stuff today... she also analysed the results of my character aptitude test for me today... Using the DISC system...

Seems that i'm a "CI" person... Politically correct, principled, conservative, black-&-white-rulebook-follower, innovative, inspiring and most of all a people-oriented person. I also don't change even when under pressure, so that makes me a very stable person and a reliable friend... but the downside is that i can become very inflexible and cannot change act according to circumstances.

On a lighter note, met up with weiming after that to catch the movie Kungfu Mahjong... good movie if u are a mahjong addict... haha (like me) Too bad my family members know next to nothing about the 144 tiles we use to play this wonderful game.

Settled down for abit of LAN gaming after that... then had dinner at Mcdonalds... cos I had to conduct a percussion practice at hsinghai after that...

Overall a very fruitful session of percussion practice, although STILL can't get full attendance cos Yingqi was having night classes... Managed to whack my members in shape abit more during the practice... Treat them to a round of drinks after that at the kopitiam and made fun of the "zhu chao" auntie (Sensormatic) there... hahaha

haha my shop became one of the Pitstops for the Food Game played by Swiss CO today...
so fun! never seen my shop buzzing with activity before...

They really turned the originally sleepy neighbourhood of Stirling Road into such a lively place today... I take my hat off Zhiyin, Vivian & Wanting for coming up with such a nice idea... At least i was pleasantly surprised... haha

Anyway I'm glad Wanting liked the erhu i chose for her... Its rare because of the wood material it was made out of, and a good example why older woods produce better sound quality! Gave her a nice Erhu case for a birthday present too... and saved her some money so she could give zinc & vivian a treat after that.. haha (I'm still waiting for my treat...~)

After they left juz worked and worked till 9pm. Bummer. At least after that managed to catch dinner with Eddie & Xinwei @ Bedok 85 Market...

Reached home to find an envelope "ON GOVERNMENT SERVICE" onnit. Damn. Opened it to find out that it was only a scare. No SAF100 no callup no nuthin'. Just some "How to be a reservist" stuff. Phew.

Basket... lost $21 at mahjong today. Ed was complaining the whole night about being unlucky... i guess he really is unlucky enough... never seen him win ONLY $3 tonite... (Ed's usually the big winner)

i guess angry people are able to win easily cos that has happened to both Simona & Ed... mebbe i need to climb up mountain to learn from the master... which ironically is my apprentice mingyawns.

Percussion-wise im the master he's the apprentice. Mahjong-wise he's the master... Cos i dun call him "Chup Sa Yeo Kia" (Hanyu Pinyin: Shi San Yao Kia). Mebbe he can give me some tips to collect the 13 Odds in Mahjong... muahaha

Need to catch some sleep. Working early again tomorrow. Bet boss doesn't even know that i stayed till 9pm to finish all his stuff. For working 11 hours in a day i really feel like i'm working my ass off. Gotta work smart rather than work hard. Sighz.

Japan Hour??!!

Just finished watching Japan Hour on ChannelNewsAsia.... they had a show on package tours around the different prefectures in Japan....

So much nice food and onsens(Hot Spring Baths) in Japan!!! hahaha makes me wanna go there and soak in the warm water during winter time... surely feels good...

Then they showed the local delicacies of Matsushima, a short trip to the Oyster farms, then the cooking procedure and the final oyster meal ... =D~~~~~~~~~~~~

Looks SO YUMMY! I have loved oysters ever since i ate my first one... and i have never seen oysters THAT BIG! haha maybe i mountain tortoise (Swakoo) but for one i would really wanna take a trip to Japan for a vacation...

Spent almost the whole day playing around with my new Creative Zen Micro 6GB Mp3 player... so many functions and recording stuff!

Added my whole collection of 553 mp3s into the player and realised that they only took up 2.48GB.. haha still got much much more to store... the recording function rocks too.. planning to record my practices tomorrow.... hehe

Its confirmed: My reservist unit is HQ 8 Singapore Armour Brigade... at the new Keat Hong Camp opposite Tengah Airbase along Sungei Tengah Road... Very very inaccessible and out of the way, yet only 15 mins away from Lot 1 Shopping Center. Opposite the camp is an airbase, to the left are the Christian and Parsi Cemetaries, to the right is a construction site...

Oh and i noticed that 80% of my reservist unit all are old uncles.... =P

Took a trip down to Karl Heng @ Bras Basah today... went to buy a few Suona shao zi for my students... then sat down to have a chat wif Fenglan-jie & Mr Yeo... Checked out the HKCO cd collection there and set my sights on "the Journey to Lhasa"... Next on my Shopping List! (growing... So many things to buy!)

Taught my classes again today at Holy Innocents'... Suona & percussion TOGETHER... so in the end i decided to switch my attention btw the 2 groups... SIGH! why do i always get the attitude problem students? mmm maybe i can see it as a challenge for me to nurture them into talents, but at least today i finally showed my students how much they had actually improved in the past few months of training...

Only 2 bad incidents marred my almost good day of work because of my 2 most hyperactive and problem kids... One comes from a broken family with no one to look after him, the other one is talented but his parentz didn't teach him the right things...

Decided to take a bus ride home today... regretted the decision 1 hr 30 mins later when i was STILL on the way back home. Moral of the Story: Taking a bus from Queenstown to Bedok takes a LONG, LONG, LONG TIME. =P

Woke up bright n early to collect a permit from AVA (Agri-Food) & Veterinary Association for the purpose of re-exporting the snakeskin of an erhu to another country.

Was in the tanjong pagar area, so i met up with da dawg yongchoon for a light lunch... ended up with me paying (again)... haha...

Met up with Hans later at Tiong Bahru, went to catch the movie "Madagascar"! haha Although juz a cartoon, but its quite funny, to actually see a zoo from an animal's point of view... BTW the penguins were the best part of the movie... On the whole a watchable movie... if u have the time and money to spare.

juz came back from (yet) another KTV session wif Lixia, Eddie, Zhiyin, Vivian & Wanting (Birthday Gal~!)

SO TIRED!!! Anyway I've been getting pretty interested in 2 particular songs by Li Sheng Jie... Chi Xin Jue Dui & Shou Fang Kai.... dunno why these 2 songs are really nice, but not so famous...

this morning i delivered some dizis & a Xinjiang Shou Gu to Tao Nan School, and i must admit nowadays kids really have it easy... air-conditioned practice rooms, professional instructors, what more can u ask for a primary school Chinese Orchestra? sighz.

I'm really getting old. haha =P
